Once the Cuba to USA for Education team is finalized, and a chase boat and captain have been obtained, the navigation and weather team will really focus on the best time to depart for Cuba and begin the return paddle to Key West. Our target timing for the paddle is mid-January to February 2016.

However, a lot of things need to go right in order for this trip to come together. Currently, I am paddling in the Foster City Lagoon after Bikram Yoga and Core work five to six days a week. This is a perfect paddling area without currents and little wind to really get a good determination of my actual paddling speed. Additionally, I am doing interval training and can mix it up in the San Francisco Bay and Half Moon Bay. I have “hardened up” to the cold and sometimes paddle at night enjoying the holiday lights.
