Ah, yes, the joys of transition and change, challenges and new endeavours. I just needed to scan a document to my computer. Pretty straight forward, right? Well, yes, if you have a flashcard or thumb drive. I’m at the Murdoch University Library with no thumb drive and no knowledge of how to operate the scanner and of course I had to have the scan NOW. I humbly approach another student and he is kind enough to lend me his thumb drive. As I fumble around the scanner, a kind soul sees my plight and assists me with the process and I actually get the scan accomplished!
Tonight, I needed to pick up a few groceries. A few groceries grew into an amount that was too much to carry on my bike. Combine this with a clear obviousness that I didn’t know exactly where I was, and you get a pretty pathetic sight. Enter kind gentleman without a bike rack, but a willingness to drive me and my groceries home and return me to my bike.
These gracious gestures made my life so much better. How often are we so busy we pass the person on the side of the road with their hood up? Or we hurry by the lady struggling with a big package. It really only takes a few moments to make a big difference for someone. I didn’t even get these generous people’s names, but rest assured I will be repaying their kindnesses many times forward!
