I got a call this morning from a good friend of mine. He said, “My friend died.”
“I’m so sorry,” I replied. “Who?”
“Frank Saraceni,” he said.
“Frank Saraceni?”
“Yes.”
“Frank Saraceni who owns Al Fresco?”
“Yes.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry.”
“He was such a good friend.”
I listened to him tell me what Frank meant to him and how he hoped he could still sail Al Fresco in the race next Saturday in Frank’s honor.
No matter how many times we hear, “live each day as if it were your last,” it’s always a wake-up call when someone you know, someone you saw just days, perhaps moments ago, someone who means so much to you, dies.
Life is a balance between living each day as if it were your last and enjoying each moment with setting inspirational goals. It’s also kind of nice to have some food in the fridge and a little money in the bank in case it’s not your last day.
It’s quite important to let those you love know how much they mean to you and to part ways or end a discussion such that you will not have regret if you never see or speak to them again.
To all my family and friends and people who are supporting my dream, please know that I appreciate you very much.
IN MEMORY OF FRANK SARACINI, a man who was quite kind to me and shared his joy of sailing on AL FRESCO.
